New Delhi: Recently, o9 Solutions, an organisation in AI software platform provider for transforming planning and decision making, has partnered with IIT Kharagpur (KGP) and NITIE to drive R&D on AI/ML technologies.
IIT Kharagpur along with NITIE Mumbai and o9 Solutions has begun a cohort-based research programme, primarily aiming to produce high quality research papers in the related field of AI/ML by using the o9 platform.
Dr. Narasimha Kamath (PhD, IIM Calcutta), Senior Vice President- R&D, o9 Solutions and Professor Manjoj Kumar Tiwari (FNAE, FNASc, FIIIE, FIISE, and FIETI) Director, National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE) will be supervising the entire collaboration programme.
o9 will host multiple research projects in association with the several departments at IIT KGP and NITIE. It will also provide the students opportunities to participate in research initiatives where they will be able to work with real world complex or large datasets and run modern algorithms to improve forecasts eventually leading towards a better planning process.
This collaboration aims to combine a great pool of expertise from both the professional and academic worlds, enabling students from IIT KGP and NITIE to work on several other next generation cutting-edge technologies. Research scholars will be able to receive access to the company’s SaaS platform by o9 along with software for the educational curriculum for skill development at these institutes. As a result of this partnership, o9 will also provide resourceful career opportunities to the students from both of these institutes.
Lauding the initiative, Dr Narasimha has stated that the research students will benefit immensely from the collaboration.
“The main focus of this research collaboration is to apply advanced AI/ML techniques for better forecasting of sales,” as stated by Rony Mitra, a Research Scholar at the Department of Mathematics, IIT Kharagpur.
According to Professor Manoj Kumar Tiwari from NITIE, this collaboration will aid the growth of modern technologies. With the progress of digitisation, India will benefit from having the young tech-savvy people ready with the knowledge of different key fields like AI, Big Data and so on.
