New Delhi: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur has joined hands with King George’s Medical University (KGMU) Lucknow to jointly offer a unique School of International Biodesign - Synergizing Healthcare Innovation and Entrepreneurship (SIB-SHInE) program.
Interested candidates who wish to apply for the joint program offered by IIT Kanpur and KGMU Lucknow can submit their applications along with a copy of the required documents on the official website at sibshine.com. The last date to apply for admission is July 20, 2022.
Under this collaboration, IIT Kanpur and KGMU Lucknow aim to offer a one-of-its-kind program to scholars, professionals, and entrepreneurs who wish to learn about various aspects of business management and launch their own ventures in the future.
This collaborative program is specially designed to offer learning opportunities to young minds so that they can become biomedical entrepreneurs and launch one’s own venture with a living allowance. This initiative will offer them access to global MedTech industry mentors.

Professor Abhay Karandikar, Director, IIT Kanpur informed that “At IIT Kanpur, there has been a significant acceleration in research and innovation in MedTech domain. Our aim is to enrich the health ecosystem with indigenous and low-cost MedTech devices and services”.
“The fellowship will not only further research and innovation in the MedTech domain, but most importantly will pave the way ahead in realizing our vision of an Aatmanirbhar Bharat by supporting indigenous talent with critical R&D and entrepreneurial support” he added.
The SIB SHInE fellowship program is sponsored by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India. Selection of applicants for this program will be done through a rigorous screening process and shortlisted applicants will be offered a monthly stipend of INR 60,000/-.
SIB-SHInE is a year-long full-time residential fellowship program. IIT Kanpur and KGMU are the second set of institutes in India after IIT Delhi and AIIMS Delhi to offer this unique fellowship program to their students.
