New Delhi: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Hyderabad has launched India's first-ever BTech Program in Computational Engineering. The program will aim to provide training in modern computational methods used in the field of engineering to interested students.
As per IIT Hyderabad, the newly launched BTech in Computational Engineering program will be open to candidates who have passed class 12 or equivalent examination with a minimum of 50% marks. They must also have a valid score in JEE Advanced to be eligible for the program.
The IIT Hyderabad BTech (CE) Program 2023 will cover the various numerical methods and algorithms as well as modelling and simulation of engineering systems and processes, understanding of high-performance computing, process control and data analytics.

The course curriculum of this BTech program will cover the topics of machine learning, optimization and process control. The program will help participants in understanding the wide range of industrial applications and the use of computational methods in engineering.
Under the IIT Hyderabad program, participants will have the opportunity to learn in detail about several computational methods which include fundamentals in scientific computing, data structure, analyses and applications of useful computational tools.
The official website informs, "In the first five semesters, the student acquires in-depth knowledge in mathematical methods, numerical techniques, development of mathematical models, computer simulations, optimization, data analytics, and machine learning".
“In the remaining semesters, students can choose from electives to acquire knowledge that is more specialized. The electives cover a variety of subjects covering advanced manufacturing, structural design, process engineering, materials design, chip design and biomedical engineering”, it added.
