New Delhi: As per the latest updates, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Gandhinagar has recently joined hands with HILTI India with the aim to upgrade the test facilities for passive fire protection systems.
As per IIT Gandhinagar, the collaboration with HILTI India will enable researchers from the institute to study various design aspects, materials, and other related factors closely under Indian operating conditions.
In addition to this, it will help the researchers in testing the products as per the required national and international standards to ensure that they provide better safety against fire. The passive fire protection system is a set of components that prevents the spread of fire.
Talking about this initiative, Gaurav Srivastava, Coordinator, Centre for Safety Engineering, IIT Gandhinagar said, “The rate of inherent fire load in the built environment has increased enormously in recent years which makes fire protection a priority".
"There is an immediate need in the country to elevate understanding of passive fire protection measures to contain the fire in place of its origin. This academia-industry collaboration will help in elevating the understanding of the importance of passive fire protection in the built environment", he added.
Adding to the statement, Jayant Kumar, General Manager of Hilti (India) Pvt Ltd shared that HILTI India is looking forward to this collaboration and working with IIT Gandhinagar to create better solutions for fire hazards.
He added that this initiative not only aims to save lives and protect assets but also intends to "elevate the understanding of passive fire protection systems amongst various critical stakeholders in the construction industry".
