New Delhi: If everything goes according to plan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will formally open the IIT Dharwad campus on January 1, according to The Hindu.

According to the report, Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Coal and Mines Pralhad Joshi stated that preparations were being made to have the Prime Minister officially open the IIT Dharwad campus, for which he had already given his approval, while inspecting the ongoing construction at Mummigatti Industrial Estate on the outskirts of Dharwad.

Next a review of the construction's advancement the following week, Joshi stated that the inauguration date would be decided. He claimed that Modi has plans to travel to the state at least twice or three times in January to take part in a number of initiatives.

Joshi noted that the phrase "Namaskara" is used in both Sanskrit and Kannada in reference to the decision to rename "Salam Arati" as "Namaskara". He asserted that the indigenous culture needed to be restored in order to escape the "slave culture."

IIT Dharwad is an independent, world-class institution that was established by the Ministry of Education in 2016 with the guidance of IIT Bombay. The Institute now provides nine courses across eight departments in the field of science and technology at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels. IIT Dharwad is now conducting business out of its temporary campus located inside the Water and Land Management Institute (WALMI).
