Indian Institute of Technology-Bombay (IIT-B) and IIT-Delhi, has planned to initiate scholarships for the underprivileged candidates in the respective institutions. 

As per the reports, the Indian Institute of Technology-Bombay (IIT-B) has planned to initiate scholarships for the candidates belonging to the economically weaker sections in the memory of late Shantilal Mohanlal Shah. 

In the same manner, the sources suggest that IIT-Delhi has also established 10-year old scholarships for needy candidates.

Going back to the past, in 1923, at the young age of 18, Shantilal Mohanlal Shah migrated to Kenya to become a successful businessman. 

After a while, he returned to Bhavnagar and spent his last 20 years serving humanity and the underprivileged people in society. 

When asked about the newly introduced Scholarships, Professor Suhas Joshi, Dean Alumni & Corporate Relations of IIT Bombay, said that the institute is thankful for the contribution from the SM Shah Trustees. 

The establishment of the Scholarship in IIT-B will certainly help the needy aspirants and support their education. This is the just beginning of the long-term relationship of SM Shah Trust with IIT-B, he said.

Professor Naveen Garg, Dean and Alumni Affairs, at IIT Delhi said that the institute is indebted to the SM Shah Trustees as their scholarships will help and benefit the educational needs of the candidates. 

He added that the initiation of the scholarships in the IITs will be an assistance to the aspiring candidates in shaping their future and it would eventually help in the development of the society.
