New Delhi: Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Thiruvananthapuram (IISER TVM) has begun the application process for the PhD programmes for the academic session 2023-24. Aspiring candidates can submit the online application form through the official portal, @www.iisertvm.ac.in.

The Ph. D. programs are offered in the Schools of Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and in the centres of Advanced Materials Research with International Engagement (CAMRIE) and High-Performance Computing (CHPC) of IISER TVM for the session starting from January 2023, i.e., Vasanth 2023 semester.
Admission to the Ph.D. program will be done based on valid score in National level examination like GATE/NET/UGC-JRF /CSIR-JRF/JEST/JGEEBILS /INSPIRE-PhD /NET-LS/Rajiv Gandhi Fellowship, followed by interview round. Candidates seeking admission to the PhD programme can submit their applications till November 8, 2022.

IISER TVM PhD Admission 2023: Eligibility Criteria
Candidates seeking admission to the PhD programmes will have to fulfil the requisite eligibility criteria.
- Candidates must have a 6.5 CGPA on a 10-point scale (or first-class equivalent) or first class in Master’s program in a relevant discipline from a respective University.
- Must hold a BE/BTech degree in relevant specialisation in select areas of research in the School of Physics
- The candidate must have qualified at least one of the following examinations: CSIR-JRF, UGC-JRF or GATE or other national-level examinations, with validity as on 01 January 2023.
- BS-MS students from any of the IISERs/IITs/IISc with a CGPA 8 or above on a 10-point scale are exempted from national-level test eligibility related criteria.
IISER TVM PhD Admission 2023: Selection Process
Candidate's selection criteria for the following specialisations of PhD is mentioned below:
Biological Sciences
- Candidates will have to submit a short “Statement of Purpose” of 300-400 words, based on a research area the candidate finds interesting.
- They should also upload this proposal under the section “Statement of Purpose (SOP)”, which does not need to be related to the research ongoing at the School of Biology, IISER TVM.
- All the short-listed candidates will have to appear for interviews conducted by IISER TVM in hybrid mode. There will be two rounds of interviews, conducted over a few days. In case of a high turnout of candidates, an entrance test may be conducted (based on Master’s level Biology questions for 70% marks and 12th level Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry questions-together 30%) on the first day of interviews.
- The final selection of candidates will entirely be based on the performance during the interviews.
Chemical Sciences
- Marks-based shortlisting and Interview in Hybrid Mode.
Physical Sciences
- During the application process, the candidates will be asked to enter one of the choices among 1) Theoretical or 2) Experimental.
- The shortlisted applicants will have to further attend interviews conducted in hybrid mode.
CAMRIE & CHPC
- During the application process, a candidate will be asked to select one or more choices of the research area for the centre based on her/his qualification.
- The shortlisted candidates will have to attend interviews conducted in hybrid mode at IISER TVM.

Step 1: Visit the official application portal of IISER TVM @www.iisertvm.ac.in.
Step 2: Register yourself after filling the required details, such as Mobile number, Email Id etc.
Step 3: Now, login with your registration credentials and fill all details in the Application form.
Step 4: Pay the application fee and submit the Application form.
Step 5: Applicants must also take a print out of the form for all future needs.
