New Delhi: Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore has joined hands with Brunel University, London to jointly offer a £100,000 (INR 1,00,00,000) program for collaborative research projects in domains such as combustion, manufacturing, design, and energy.
The Brunel and IISc Bangalore collaboration aims to support the institution's goal to establish a long-term research and academic relationship. The program was launched during a visit by Brunel's Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Andrew Jones to IISc's campus in Bengaluru.
To officially begin the Brunel-IISc Collaborative program, Professor Jones and other top administrators from Brunel visited IISc to share their ideas with the academic staff. The two universities also signed an arrangement regarding the same.
The funding offered under this initiative will support a variety of quick, exploratory cooperative "seed" research studies which will commence by the end of July 2023. The project will aim to further profess longer, externally funded collaborative research.
Professor Jones from Brunel said, "Over the past couple of years, academics from our universities have been working to develop an understanding of our joint research capabilities in combustion, manufacturing, design and energy, each of which are areas of internationally excellent research for Brunel and for IISc”.
"The International Collaborative Program between Brunel and IISc advances this insight. It allows our scholars to collaborate more intensively and produce influential research to benefit the UK and India and the bilateral relationship”, he added.
Professor Govindan Rangarajan, Director of IISc stated that the institute is grateful for the opportunity that allows interactions with Brunel over the recent years through numerous joint workshops, webinars, and research projects/exchanges.
He added, “The launch of the Brunel–IISc International Collaboration Program will add value to the ongoing interactions and strengthen our relationship further. We anticipate the extension of this cooperation to other interdisciplinary areas and forward to working together”.
