New Delhi: The International Relations Committee (IRC) of IIM Bodh Gaya has successfully organised its flagship event Model United Nations (MUN) in online mode. The event was held for a duration of two days, from February 04 to February 05, 2023.
As per IIM Bodh Gaya, the event aims to catalyse students to think like diplomats and act as global citizens. The flagship event was attended by participants from around the country as well as by partners of international institutes.
At the event, participants from various institutes engaged in panels which discussed simulating and resolving problems which confront society. The sessions were attended by Economic and Financial Committee (ECOFIN) and Disarmament & International Security Committee (DISEC).
The two committees talked about two critical issues, which are “Tackling the potential economic crisis in 2023” and “Resolving rising global tensions in the wake of the Ukraine-Russia war" at the IIM Bodh Gaya Flagship Event Model United Nations.
The ECOFIN was presided over by Lakhan Saddi, a Member of the MUN circuit and DISEC was presided over by Shreyas Salve, a Member of MUN and Akshat Tarush, who is also a part of the organizing committees.
Informing about the committees, the officials shared that the ECOFIN develops policies for finance, economy and growth. It also writes regulations but needs help to carry them out. It carefully creates incentive schemes to help countries.
On the other hand, the DISEC works with disarmament, global challenges and threats to peace that affect the international community. It aims to create solutions to the difficulties in the international security regime.
In addition, the committee works closely with the United Nations Disarmament Commission and Geneva-based Conference on Disarmament. The debates held by the committee are attended by reputed institutes like IIM Raipur, IIM Shillong, KIIT University, NMIMS, and Symbiosis, etc.
