New Delhi: IGDTUW and Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UNIMAP) signed an MoU along with the Delhi Govt. on Thursday, April 7, 2022. The aim of this collaboration is to give a worldwide exposure to teachers and students in higher education, as well as to encourage bilateral scientific and technology research between the two institutions.

The event was attended by Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, Malaysia’s Minister of Higher Education Dr Noraini Ahmed, Malaysia’s High Commissioner to India Hidayat Abdul Hamid, Dr Amita Dev, Vice-Chancellor of IGDTUW, Dr Hussaini B. Omar, Director-General, Dept. of Higher Education, Malaysia and other dignitaries from the Education Department of Delhi and Malaysia. 

The Deputy CM, speaking at the event, stated that the educational collaboration between the Malaysian University and IGDTUW will allow for faculty and student exchange programmes between the two institutions. It will also give students the opportunity to perform research of worldwide significance.

Sisodia added,” We cannot deny that technology holds an important place in our lives. We are living in a rapidly changing century where we cannot confine ourselves to boundaries. We need to go beyond our limits by adopting new innovations and technology to grow out of it”. 

The collaboration will encourage students from both universities to do research and innovate in the fields of artificial intelligence and data science. This will assist the university in raising technology awareness among its students and faculty. It will provide huge learning opportunities for women working in advanced technology.

Malaysia’s Minister of Higher Education Dr Noraini Ahmed said that both the institutes have been working on this collaboration for a year. This collaboration between these two prestigious technical universities will promote both high-quality technical education and gender equality in the region. It will also inspire women from India and Malaysia to seek careers in science and technology, pursue further education, and excel in their professions.

Dr Jaliman Souli, Vice-Chancellor of UNIMAP, on the event and stated that in today's world, digital transformation of the economy via sustainable innovation is crucial. This relationship in the domain of technical sciences, particularly in artificial intelligence and data science, will assist in solving most problems of the world.
