ICSE Board Exam 2021 has been cancelled while the ISC exam stands postponed, reads a recent statement by Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE). The board has made the decision to keep the safety and wellbeing of students and teachers as the utmost priority.

ICSE Board Class 10 Exam which was scheduled to begin from May 4, 2021, now stands cancelled in view of the COVID-19 surge across the country. Observing grim records of spiralling COVID cases, the board took to announcing the cancellation of exams. It is the sixth consecutive day as India records over 2 lakh cases.

ICSE Board Exam 2021 was slated to begin from May 4 and continue till June 7 and ISC examination had already started from April 8, 2021. The board will review the situation after first week of June and release a revised schedule to conduct Class 12 exams, which are stalled for the time being.

The leftover exams will be held thereafter, similar to CBSE’s decision on Class 10 and 12 board exams. Last week, CBSE Class 12 exams were deferred following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's meeting with the Education Minister and other senior officials. After two days, CISCE follows suit; the decision will be affecting 35 lakh students appearing for the exams, this year.

However, CISCE has declared a "fair and unbiased" criterion to assess ICSE Board Exam 2021 (Class 10) students and accordingly dates for ICSE Class 10 Result 2021 will be announced. The board has also directed affiliated schools to begin Class 11 admissions for the 2021-22 session. Schools have to prepare new schedules for online classes to begin at the earliest while following the ISC 2023 syllabus.

Official notice issued by CISCE on its official website reads, “The CISCE is committed to devising ‘a fair and an unbiased criterion’ as stated earlier. The criterion on which basis the results will be declared for the ICSE (Class X) students and the date of result declaration will be announced by the CISCE later.”
