October 29, 2020: Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) has declared exit classes result for final year technical and vocational courses within less than a fortnight’s time.
Despite the COVID-19 pandemic this year, as many as 43,000 students appeared in the exit exams of Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU).
Hence, candidates who appeared in the exams held from September 15-October 15, can now check their results at GNDU’s official website (gndu.ac.in).
Controller of Examination, Manoj Kumar stated that the exam authority has declared the result in a timely manner as stated in UGC Guidelines so that candidates could apply for other programs as the scheduled date.
Referring to the declaration of examination result, Manoj Kumar, Controller of Examinations, GNDU, said, “We never wanted the pandemic to cast a shadow on the future of our children, therefore the university decided to hold the first-ever online examinations for exit courses”.
He further added in his comment, “ The aim was to facilitate students to plan for their future and professional endeavours in time. Exit courses are quite important as they mark the final year of academic education for any particular field of study".
He added that the results of technical and vocational courses are now available for candidates to check. By the end of October, the exam authority will also release the result of the remaining courses.

Earlier, the GNDU examination was scheduled to be conducted in the month of July 2020. Due to the Coronavirus pandemic and nation lockdown, the exam was later postponed.
Student bodies of the university were moved to Punjab and Haryana High Court to request a formulated system for scoring and evaluating marks based on candidates’ previous year performance.
Later, the High Court decided to conduct the Final Year examination of Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) through online means.
An official statement by the exam authority reads," We planned and conducted the examinations keeping in mind every detail. Our teachers monitored the entire process online. An emergency response team was formed to tackle any technical snag,”

The Vice-Chancellor of GNDU, Professor Jaspal Sandhu stated that the university will consider students’ requests to evaluate candidates’ marks based on previous year performance.
The university will also consider the candidates who failed to attend the examination due to pandemic related limitations.
He further added, " We have received requests from some students who could not take the exams on medical grounds. We will announce the dates for examinations soon.”
