Gujrat Students and Parents association filed a plea requesting the Supreme Court to direct NTA on holding the Nation Level Engineering and Medical exam as scheduled in September. The litigation is filed as a counter plea to previous PIL filed by 11 students from 11 different state requesting the apex court to postpone the exams amid the surging cases of COVID-19 pandemic. While the Union Ministry of Education has not yet come up with any revision in the exam schedule, the dilemma of students and parents can be clearly seen. 

JEE Main 2020 is scheduled from September 1-6, 2020 and NEET 2020 is going to be conducted on September 13, 2020, however as the date of exam is approaching closer, the havoc among parents and students are augmenting.

What does the letter say?

In the letter written to the Supreme Court for holding the exam, Parents and students justified that other national level exams conducted by NTA are held as scheduled therefore JEE Main and NEET 2020 should also be held without further delay, as these exams are crucial for students life and career. Postponing the exam can be a grave loss for candidates academia.

  • Apart from that they also suggested that facilities to change the JEE Main and NEET 2020 Exam Center were also provided, so now candidates can appear from their commutable exam centers. 
  • The Parents Group from Gujrat mentions that series of delay is traumatizing the candidates and hampering their preparation along with the patience since they have been preparing for these exams right after class 10th
  • It was also mentioned in the request letter that the admission process for these competitive exams is time-bound and delay in the exam will push back all the important events related to the exam, as a consequence of which students can lose an academic session. 
  • The letter also pointed out the ‘Revised Guideline of UGC for examination and academic calendar for universities amidst COVID-19 ‘, issued on July 06, according to which all the final year exam are mandatorily be finished by September 2020.

Clearly, with every passing day, the students and parents are growing sceptical and a mixed reaction for conduction of these can be witnessed among them. However, it will be clear in due course what authorities have to say about the schedule of the exam. Candidates need to frequently visit the official website of JEE Main and NEET 2020 and stay updated.
