New Delhi: The Government Institute of Medical Science (GIMS), Greater Noida is expected to begin its first session of GIMS Greater Noida B.Sc Nursing Admission 2022 from January. The institute has begun the counselling process for two courses with a total intake of 60 seats. 

As per GIMS Greater Noida, once the counselling procedure gets over, the institute is likely to begin its first session of B.Sc Nursing. The counselling process is most likely to end by this week.

According to Brigadier Dr. Rakesh Kumar Gupta, the Director of GIMS, the counselling process for all the seats is being conducted at the Government level in accordance with the Government rules. 

The seats will be allotted to the students after they get selected. In case the recent COVID-19 situation prevails till the end of January, the session in the nursing college will commence soon after the final step.

Dr. Gupta has further stated that the state Government has approved for the commencement of the nursing college. Earlier the counselling was scheduled to be conducted on December 29, 2021. 

Owing to the sudden and excessive surge of COVID-19 cases, the counselling process is now scheduled to be conducted in January, 2022. 

The entrance examination for GIMS B.Sc Nursing was conducted in the last month. Due to the pandemic situation, however, the college administration is carefully considering the ideal time to begin the session.

According to the authority, in December, 2021, the Uttar Pradesh Nurses and Midwives Council had permitted GIMS to begin the first Government nursing college in Gautam Budh Nagar. The nursing college is named as the College of Nursing, GIMS and will be affiliated with the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University, Lucknow. 

On the other hand, Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University has provided affiliation to a total 11 medical colleges via the consent letter. Among these colleges, there are 9 Government and 2 private colleges. 

There are also proposals from 30 nursing and paramedical colleges from the state of Uttar Pradesh. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the authorities to complete the work of the university within a specific time frame so that the affiliated medical colleges can also be looked after. This is to improve the student facilities as well.

The Government has also granted permission for the third session of MBBS in GIMS. To begin with, the session will include 100 seats out of which 50 seats will be reserved for the students from the EWS category.
