A merit list of 560 students from the Gujarati minority was announced by Vile Parle's NM College, a popular choice among business students. The last student on the list scored 92 percent. The cut-off for the same was 89.8 percent last year.
On Monday, two prominent suburban colleges, Mithibai and NM College, continued the trend towards higher cut-offs for students applying under the Gujarati minority and in-house quota in the first year of junior college admissions.

The NM College of Vile Parle, a popular choice among trade students, announced a merit list with 560 Gujarati minority students.

The last student scored 92 per cent on the list. The cut-off last year was 89.8 per cent for the same. The top student scored 99.2 percent on the merit list.

Similarly, it closed its in-house quota merit list at 81.8%, up from 80% in 2019.

The cut-offs were higher over streams at Mithibai College, in Vile Parle. The trade cut-off was 89.4 percent, a 3.4 percent jump compared to 86 percent last year. The cut-off in arts at 81.6 per cent was also higher than the 78.8 per cent cut-off in 2019. However, the science cut-off was only marginally higher at 62.5 per cent compared to last year's 62 per cent.

The minority merit lists announced on Saturday at St Xavier 's College and St Andrew's had seen similar trends.

Minority institutions can continue their quota admissions to the centralized admission rounds until August 22, 2020 also the last day for students to submit online forms.

The first list of merits will be announced on August.30, 2020 2.3 lakh students had verified their application forms until Monday evening and 1.8 lakh had completed part II of the form which requires them to select 10 colleges of their choice in the order of preference.
