The Education Testing Services (ETS) has officially announced a new test, TOEFL Essentials, to assess English-language proficiency. As per the statement, the exam is designed for university admissions and other 'high stake decisions'. 

Srikant Gopal, Executive Director of the TOEFL program, stated that TOEFL iBT Test has cemented its place as a standard in the international admissions spaces. But the expansion of the portfolio of the exam with the innovative and versatile TOEFL Essentials test will allow the students to select a TOEFL test that satisfies their testing style and preferences in the best possible way. 

Further, the TOEFL Essentials test and TOEFL iBT Test will make the exam easier for the test takers during such pandemic circumstances. ETS will continue with this online exam facility till the situation becomes better.

About TOEFL Examinations

The TOEFL Essentials test will be an online remote-proctored, home-based test and it will test the students in four skills as Listening, Reading, Speaking, and Writing. Also, the test will offer the combination of affordable success and convenience and the trust of quality institutions. It has also been notified that 50% of the test content will be from Academic English and the remaining 50% will be from General English.

Interested candidates are required to pay the application fee of INR 7300 and submit their applications at the earliest. The registrations for the TOEFL examinations will commence on June 17, 2021, while the TOEFL exams have been scheduled to be conducted on August 21, 2021.
