New Delhi: 16.85 lakh candidates have enrolled for the second session of the Common University Entrance Test(CUET UG) for the year 2023, in order to take admission in the Undergraduate program.
M Jagadeesh Kumar, chairman of the University Grants Commission(UGC), reported that out of this number, 13,995 lakhs deposited the application fee and completed the CUET UG 2023 registration form.
This indicates a total 41 per cent rise in the number of students registered to take the CUET-UG examination for the year 2023. M. Jagadesh Kumar published the information from his official Twitter account.
In 2022, UGC's debut year of CUET-UG introduction, 12.50 lakh students registered, and 9.9 lakh students submitted their applications. In 2023 CUET-UG, a total of 16.85 lakh students registered.

DU receives the most number of applications. The institution that garnered the most applications was Delhi University, trailed by Banaras Hindu University and Allahabad University. Moreover, Uttar Pradesh has got the most entries, followed by Delhi and Bihar.
The UGC chairman further stated that 1,000 applications from international students across 74 countries, spanning Europe, Asia, the Americas, and the Gulf States had been received this year.
He continued by saying that 82,655 applications from students in Jammu and Kashmir were obtained this year. This is over 70,000 more in comparison to the previous year. In 2022, 13,021 pupils from this region took the CUET-UG. The test is set to be held from May 21–31, 2023 and the deadline for applications for CUET-UG was March 30.
12.50 lac students are enrolled for the first-ever CUET-UG, and 9.9 lac of them submitted applications. The National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET-UG) for medical enrollment has an average of 18 lakh entries, making it India's largest entrance exam.
