CUET UG 2023 to be held in 3 Shifts

New Delhi: According to UGC Chairman Jagadesh Kumar, there will be three shifts in the Common University Entrance Exam (CUET)-UG and almost a total of 11 lakh students have registered for CUET UG 2023 exam so far.

He stated that at least two years prior to the merger, plans for its merging with important admission tests like JEE and NEET will be announced. Earlier, the CUET UG exam was conducted in two shifts.

The reports reveal that UGC Chairman in an interview, Kumar stated that the National Testing Agency (NTA) and University Grants Commission (UGC) are ready to guarantee that the second edition of CUET-UG is error-free.

He said that he acknowledged that there were a number of technical difficulties during the exam last time, but this year all problems have been resolved. The exam commission has developed a plan with the experience of students in mind, and they've prepared to make sure that the candidates just need to be concerned about the exam and not any hiccups.

The UGC Chairperson said that Plan B has been set up with additional computers and locations. So if there is any problem, candidates will be moved there according to plan B and the exam for that shift will go normally.

Will CUET, JEE or NEET get merge?

When asked about the merging of CUET and NEET, Chairman Kumar responded that it is totally conceivable. It may be combined with the engineering entrance exam JEE and the medical entrance exam NEET. The specifics are still being worked out, but whenever the merger occurs, notice will be given to the students at least two years in advance, allowing them to make preparations.

Meanwhile, there have been about 11.5 lakh registrations for the CUET UG 2023 exam and the deadline for the CUET UG 2023 registration is March 30, 2023. He stated that UGC is expecting that the CUET UG 2023 applications will surpass last year's number.

CUET UG 2023: Score Normalisation

When discussing the "normalisation" of results, UGC Chairman brought up the fact that it left some candidates upset. The aspirants were dissatisfied to learn that their marks had dropped from their initial results, making it challenging for them to get into their desired colleges.

This year, the exam schedule was shortened to 10 days from nearly a month and a half, making an effort to reduce any errors made throughout the procedure, the Chairman said. Professors from the Indian Statistical Institute, IIT Delhi, and Delhi University made up the group that decided the "equipercentile approach" normalisation formula.

During the interview, the Chairman said that extra computers will be kept ready as part of plan B in case any technical errors occur during the CUET UG 2023 exam.
