The decision comes weeks after the UGC chief declared that CUET scores will be mandatory for admission to 45 central universities and that the central universities can fix their minimum eligibility criteria accordingly, which means that the universities wouldn't have to accept the Class 12 scores for admissions.

According to the latest reports, the CUET will be introduced for PG admissions from the 2022 academic session. The NTA will conduct the common entrance test (CUET) from the third week of July 2022.

The UGC chairman has tweeted that the CUET-PG 2022 for post-graduate admissions will be held in the last week of July 2022, for which the application process for UGC-PG will commence today and conclude on June 18, 2022.

Further, the CUET exam will be conducted in English and Hindi in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode in two shifts. The entrance exam is also supposed to reduce the financial burden of the students as the candidates have to appear for only one exam. Along with the central ones, the state, private and deemed to be universities can also use this exam score for UG Admissions.

Candidates seeking admission to UG courses offered by Central Universities across India can register for CUET 2022 online by logging onto the NTA website (nta.nic.in), or (cuet.samarth.ac.in), after checking the CUET 2022 eligibility criteria by May 22, 2022. So far, a total of 10.46 lakh candidates have registered for CUET-UG 2022.

This year, all the 45 central universities, including Delhi University (DU), Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), University of Hyderabad (UOH)Allahabad University, have agreed to adopt CUET score to admit the aspiring candidates in their undergraduate courses.
