CUET 2023

New Delhi: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has declared that students will be allowed 15-20 mins more time for subjects like mathematics and accounting than that for other subjects in the CUET 2023 Exam.

NTA has taken this decision to allow more time for certain subjects in CUET 2023 Exam based on the feedback it had received from the students and parents. NTA had done a study where the students and parents were asked to give their feedback on the examination process to make it more transparent and efficient for the students.

One of the biggest grievance received from the students who had appeared for CUET UG Last year is that they could not complete the subjects involving calculations within the allotted 45 mins time.

Along with this, NTA has also Increased the number of subjects students can choose to 10 including language subjects.

CUET 2023 Registration is ongoing. The registration process began on February 7 and will continue till March 12, 2023. CUET 2023 is going to be conducted on May 21 – 31, 2023.

AMU, JMI to Consider CUET Scores for Admission to Selected Courses

Aligarh Muslim University and Jamia Milia Islamia has opted to go against the rule of all central universities conducting admission on the basis of CUET 2023 Scores. These institutes have decided to take admission on CUET 2023 exam only on some selected courses in the UG, PG Level.

Last year, JMI admitted students to 10 courses based on CUET and this year, the JMI vice chancellor is planning to increase that number.

UGC has Urged JMI and AMU to Conduct All Admission on CUET 2023

“UGC has asked all the Central Universities to use CUET scores for admissions to all the courses. However, this has been observed that Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has opted to participate in CUET-2023 for a limited number of programmes/courses, as was done last year. Please note that all the Central Universities, including AMU, are required to participate for all UG programmes in CUET 2023 to provide equal opportunities to aspiring candidates, which is in the student’s best interests,” the letter stated.

CUET 2023 Allowed to be Taken by NRI Candidates

NTA has decided that it will allow NRI and OCI candidates to sit for CUET 2023 and take part in the admission process of central universities. Candidates need to mention their nationality in the CUET 2023 form. In order to facilitate this provision, CUET 2023 will be held in 24 cities outside of India.

Private Universities Hesitant to Consider CUET 2023 Scores

Many private universities are hesitant of adopting CUET scores for admission to their UG, PG Courses. The main reason behind this being the history of delay in the admission process conducted by national entrance exams.

The UGC Chief, M Jagadesh Kumar, has said there will be no delay in admissions this year. “This year the CUET UG will take place on 21- 31 May and results will be announced in June. The admission process can start in July’s first week and classes can start no later than August 1. Therefore, there should be no delay in the admission process,” he said. “We are also working right from the beginning to make sure that the test centres are chosen with suitable infrastructure so that the CUET-UG will be conducted smoothly.”

New Exam Help Centres

To ensure smooth and easy process for CUET 2023 registration, NTA has introduced exam help centres. There are 24 help centres established across the country. Each help centre will have a technical Executive who will solve any problem faced by the students during CUET Registration. The student just needs to visit the help centre and the executives there will fill up the form for the student.

Changes made in Exam Pattern

From 2023, NTA has made certain changes in the exam pattern of CUET Exam. From this year, candidates will be allowed to choose 10 subjects instead of 9 from the three sections.

Students will also have to attempt less questions from section two and three. The number of questions to be attempted has been reduced to 35 out of 45 for section two and 40 out of 50 for section three, depending on the domain subject. In section three of the general test, students will have to attempt only 50 out of 60 questions in total.

Till 2022, CUET Exam was conducted in two slots- the morning slot and the afternoon slot. The morning slot would be from 9 am to 12:15 pm and the afternoon slot would be from 3 pm to 6:45 pm.
