New Delhi: PwBD students appearing in the CUET 2022 exam for undergraduate programme admission in DU would be allowed extra time during the exam.

CUET 2022: Persons with Benchmark Disability to Get Extra Time, Informs DU

DU will be holding admissions using the CUET for the first time. Until last year, students were accepted based on their Class 12 board exam cut-off scores. The exam will have four parts -- Section IA (13 languages), Section IB (20 languages), Section II (27 domain-specific subjects) and Section III (general test).

During a webinar hosted by DU about the provisions and policies of the facility, Haneet Gandhi, Dean of admissions, notified PwBD candidates that those who have physical difficulties in writing, including speed, will only be permitted to utilize the facilities of a scribe.

She stated that Sections 1A and 1B of the test will be given 45 minutes each for common applicants. A PwBD applicant will receive an additional 15 minutes for each part. Similarly, each domain-specific subject will be granted an additional 15 minutes in Section II.

A common candidate will be given 60 minutes for part III, which is a generic test, whereas PwBD applicants will be allowed 20 minutes additional. The CUET 2022 exam will be conducted in CBT mode.

Gandhi further stated that the NTA has extended the deadline for CUET 2022 registration till May 22, 2022. She also informed the students about the CUET registration process, as well as the requisite credentials and enabling conditions. From this year, the CUET will be required for admission to all central institutions. The CUET exam will be conducted in two shifts.

Candidates will be able to write one language, two domain-specific papers, and the general test in the first shift. Candidates can write the remaining four domain-specific subjects as well as section 1B in the second shift. One may appear in the CUET in up to six disciplines, one of which must be a language subject.

The university will offer e-counselling when the CUET results are released. Candidates will be able to select institutions of their choice, and colleges will be assigned to them based on their grades.
