The Consortium of National Law Universities (CNLU), the governing body of CLAT, has issued a series of additional guidelines for candidates appearing at the national level in the COVID-19 situation. These include travel advisory services for Chattisgarh candidates, status of COVID positive candidates, revised exam instructions and others.
CLAT 2020 is scheduled to take place in online centre mode on September 28, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Candidates should get well aware with the guidelines beforehand to prevent any fuss at the time of exam.
This year, approximately 68,000 candidates have registered for the law entrance test for UG-courses and around 9,000 for admission to the PG-Courses.
In the Previous Year, around 60,000 candidates appeared for the exam to get admission to 22 National law Schools of the Country.
NLS Vice-Chancellor said, “We will test Candidate’s temperature at the center. There will be a test room for COVID Patients Separately in each center.
The unregistered candidates will not be allowed to appear for the entrance examination. Although, around 3,000 already registered candidates had suddenly withdrawn from the test,” he added.

NLAT 2020 was cancelled by the Supreme Court on September 21, 2020 and had ordered that the admissions to NLSIU, Bangalore be made on the basis of CLAT 2020.
Medical Precautions at CLAT Exam Centers 2020

The CLAT 2020 Examination Authority will appoint observers who will have to visit the Examination Center many times over the next few days to check whether the COVID-19 safety protocols are maintained in the Examination Centre

Staff will be responsible to manage the Crowd and orderly movement at the test center.

Thermo Guns will be provided to the Staff at the entry gate of each center.

PPE Kits will be made available in isolation labs for Staff.

Sufficient cleaning staff, center administrators and invigilators will be provided face masks and hand gloves.

Disinfectant Liquid Spray Machines will be used to sanitize the examination centers.

Candidates with COVID-Symptoms will not be allowed inside the exam center. In order to accommodate such students, a separate isolation lab will be deployed.

There will be adequate hand sanitizer and hand soap in the exam centers and their washrooms.

3 ply masks and gloves will be given to isolated candidates.

COVID-19 Precautions for Students on CLAT Exam Day
CNLU has published a notice on the official website of the revised candidate guidelines. Candidates may refer to the following notice below:

Separate entrance and exit gates and that the route taken by each of the candidates to the lab would also be mapped so that there would be no crowding in the exam centre before or after the exam

All students with temperature > 99.4 will be directed to the insolation lab for taking the examination.

In case of a candidate with scribe, both the candidate and the scribe must bring their own N95 masks.

Candidates will be allowed to carry the following items along with them at the center:

Mask

Gloves
-
A Pen
-
Personal Transparent water bottle
-
Hand Sanitizer (50 ml)

Exam Related documents such as Admit card, ID Card, etc.

Candidates will be asked to switch off their mobile phones, and deposit it at the designated location, to be collected while exiting.

CLAT 2020 Revised Instructions
The examination authorities have issued a set of instructions on the day of examination for candidates appearing in the CLAT 2020. The details are the following:

The candidates should report at the allotted exam centre at least 1 hour before the commencement of the exam. And, entry to the test centre will be closed after 15 minutes of the commencement of the examination. This means that the reporting time at the test centre would be from 1:00 PM to 2:15 PM.

Inside the CLAT exam hall, candidates will be provided with rough sheets. They will have to write their roll number on top of each rough sheet and will have to dump the same in a drop-box after the examination.

Any malpractices in CLAT 2020 exam, including giving or taking help from other candidates, copying or using any other unfair means are strictly prohibited.

Applicants appearing for the CLAT UG will have to answer 150 questions that will be asked from different comprehension passages.

Those appearing in CLAT LLM will have 120 questions to be asked from common legal subjects at the graduation level.

Each question will bear one mark and, for each incorrect answer, 0.25 marks will be deducted from the total score.

Special pass for Chattisgarh Candidates
In a separate notification issued to Chattisgarh candidates, the consortium assured the candidates affected by the lockdown that it was working with the state government to find a solution to the problem.
The notification read, "As a result of the lockdown announced in Chattisgarh, the CLAT Consortium is working with the state government to allow candidates to travel to the test centres by using their CLAT 2020 Admit Card as a pass. Applicants are requested to carry their admission card and photo ID card and to produce it on request."
CLAT 2020 Guidelines: PwD/SAP Candidates Must Carry Disability Certificate
in a recent notice released by CNLU, it was stated that PwD/SAP candidates will have to carry their disability certificate to the exam centre.
- Certificate regarding physical limitation in an examinee to write
- Letter of Undertaking for Using Own Scribe
Both the certificates should mention the details about the candidate and should be signed by the candidate and attested by Gazzetted Medical Officer.
