The Consortium of National Law Universities (CNLU) conducted a mock test for CLAT Undergraduate candidates on July 17, 2020. However, the test didn't get acceptance from candidates, they pointed out the issues faced while taking the mock test.
This was to familiarize candidates with the online mode of CLAT. CLNU will also conduct some mock tests for UG and PG candidates before the actual exam dates.
One of the CLAT UG candidates, Dinesh said, "The online exam is good but the rules and instructions regarding the test should be changed as it does not allow you to navigate from one section to another."

Some of the concerns from the student's end are listed below:
- The exam instruction mentions that the questions marked for review will not be considered for evaluation. If a student leaves a question for review and wants to move to the next section assuming that he will be able to answer that question after attempting other questions, the present system doesn't allow it.
- The CLAT mock test doesn't allow candidates to navigate from one section to another. The students who prefer prioritizing the sections, will not like this present interface.
- Candidates also demanded better fonts and simplified outlook, as reading comprehension passages require that. This is the favorable requirement for the first time attempting candidates to attempt the exam with ease.
- If compared to offline mode were candidates can attempt any question from any section, the present online mode doest give that flexibility and candidates have to move section to section in a given order.

In response to all the queries, the CLAT authorities said that the mock tests are an opportunity for the Consortium of NLUs to iterate and arrive upon a format and mechanism that assures a balance between the test integrity and good candidate experience.
The authorities also said that the Consortium will announce any changes in the mock test format before the next set of mock tests and the final set of instructions for actual CLAT 2020 will be announced well before the date of the examination.
Last year, CLAT was held across 67 cities. Considering the fact that travel cannot be smooth in the prevailing COVID-19 situation, the Consortium announced that CLAT 2020 will be conducted in 203 centers across the country.
It is an important step to increase the examination centers so that fewer candidates appear in a single center and social distancing can be maintained. The Consortium may further increase the examination centers if required.
