JEE Main 2020 Paper 2 has finally concluded today for B.Arch and B.Planing. Among all the speculations and uproar demanding postponement of the entrances, JEE Main 2020 Shift 1 started from 9:00 AM- 12 Noon while the Shift 2 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

The exam was for 3 hours, however, for candidates appearing for both B.Arch and B.Planning an additional half an hour was provided. 

According to students the JEE Main 2020 Paper 2 for Day 1 was moderately difficult with the syllabus from Class 11th and 12th. Students were quite satisfied with the arrangements made at JEE Main Exam Centers

NTA has set up 605 JEE Main 2020 Exam Center for B.Tech/ B.E. and 489 centers for B.Arch and B.Planning across 232 cities. About 953,473 candidates will be appearing for JEE Main 2020 April/September exam.

For the drawing section, one question involved a Highway scene or Portrait of your favorite teacher while the other question involved drawing an aesthetic composition using rectangles. 

The mathematics section was tougher in comparison to other sections. Questions from Matrices’ were easy while questions from Functions were tough.

Aptitude section was easiest of all. Questions from General Knowlege were also asked like- where does the President of the United State live? . 

As compared to the JEE Main B.Arch Paper in the January session, numerical questions were found to be lengthy.

Student Analysis of JEE Main 2020 B.Arch Paper Shift 1

Shift 1 for the JEE Main 2020 B.Arch paper has ended at 12 noon. According to the student analysis, the Mathematics section was comparatively hard and consisted of topics such as hyperbola, measurements and three-dimensional geometry. According to the students the JEE Main 2020 B.Arch Paper was moderately difficult. The questions were from Class 11th and 12th syllabus.

JEE Main 2020 Day 1: Shift 1 exams held amid stringent precautions

NTA has strictly followed all the social distancing norms at the exam centers as per the JEE Main COVID-19 Advisory they had released. Social distancing was followed at every exam center, thermal screening and sanitization before entry is being done, fresh masks are being provided while under the no-touch policy frisking is being done using metal detectors.

Workers wearing PPE kit had been assigned to do the thermal screening of the candidates. Only one student on each bench is allowed to sit. Gathering inside or outside the exam center is not allowed. Parents are being asked to leave after they drop off their children at the center. 

Very few students are being seen at the exam centers as compared to the number of students seen in the last years. A number of students have also posted about them being unable to reach their exam centers due to a lack of transportation. Although the timings for Shift 1 are from 9:00 AM- 12 Noon, students have started reaching their exam centers early as the frisking process will take more time than usual. No entry is being allowed after 08:30 am.

JEE Main 2020: Items Allowed and Dress Code

Students are required to bring only the allowed items at the exam center and follow the dress code for JEE Main 2020 as provided by NTA. Students must make sure to carry:

  • Original Identity proof (PAN card/Driving License/Voter ID/12th Class Board Admit or Registration card/ Passport/ Aadhaar Card/ E-Aadhaar/ Ration Card / Aadhaar Enrolment No. with Photo, etc.)
  • JEE Main 2020 Admit Card
  • Self-declaration
  • Additional photograph for the attendance sheet
  • 50 ml hand sanitizer
  • Transparent water bottle
  • Transparent ballpoint pen
  • Face mask and gloves
  • For the drawing test of B.Arch, students must bring their own Geometry Box Set, Pencils, Erasers and Colour pencils or Crayons. Watercolors are not allowed

According to the dress code provided by NTA for JEE Main 2020, shoes or footwear with thick soles are not allowed along with garments with big buttons. Jewelry and metallic items are also prohibited at the JEE Main exam center. 

Flood-affected students can request NTA for JEE Main 2020 re-examination

Bar and Bench had earlier reported that the Bombay High Court at Nagpur heard an urgent plea on the postponement of JEE Main and NEET at 8:30 AM in the morning for students residing in flood-affected areas. According to reports, the court had issued directions stating that students who cannot reach their exam centers due to floods may apply to NTA for re-examination.

Punjab all geared up for JEE Main 2020

JEE Main 2020 will be conducted by TCS in Punjab. Punjab is geared up to hold 13,995 candidates for JEE Main 2020 at 9 centers. 

SOPs are being strictly followed at the centers for the safe conduct of the exam. To ensure social distancing, students will be provided with the staggered entry and exit timings. Admit cards and thermal screening would be done at the entry. For the morning shift, students have been asked to reach their JEE Main Exam Centers between 7:00 AM to 8:30 PM. 

Ludhiana would be holding the exam at a single center- ION digital zone, that can hold upto 750 candidates a day and has a sufficient number of computers for candidates. 

Special sub-urban train service for JEE Main 2020 aspirants

With JEE Main 2020 exams started today, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal has permitted the Railways to run a special suburban train service in Mumbai for students on examination days. Although, the minister has requested the general public not to commute. The news was announced via his Twitter account.

It must be noted that the special Mumbai Local Trains are being run only for JEE Main and NEET candidates. Students would be required to show their admit cards as a ticket or authority letter, only then they would be allowed to travel along with their parent or accompanying guardian. Read More

Jharkhand ready to hold over 23k JEE Main 2020 candidates

Jharkhand is geared up to hold over 23,000 candidates at eight centers across Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Bokaro, Dhanbad, Hazaribag. All centers would be following the norms for safe conduct of the exam. Masks, sanitizers, thermal screening, and social distancing would be mandatory. 

There would be isolation room at every center for students who show symptoms of COVID-19. Students have shown a mixed reaction to the exam being conducted amid COVID-19.
