CBSE schools across the country have started the admission process for LKG classes. While some schools have already issued applications, others are planning to begin the process in February 2021. 

However, many CBSE schools said that they will wait for more clarity from the authorities on when offline classes could be resumed. Schools that have started the admission process have received a positive response from the parents.

Chairman of Zion and Alwin Group of Schools, N Vijayan said, “Despite the pandemic, the number of applications exceeded last year. We had admission requests for other classes too.”

Under normal circumstances, the admission process starts from the 2nd week of December. However, this year schools are split between waiting for the reopening of campuses and starting the admission process close to the next academic year. 

The principal of Bhanavan’s Rajaji Vidyashram, PG Subramanian said that they have not decided on the admission process yet. He said that the process may begin from February 2021. He further informed that their school has been conducting the admission process online for the last few years.

Another principal, R Srinivasa Raghavan of Bala Vidyamandir Senior Secondary School said that there would be no effect on the number of admissions despite the pandemic. He too said that they may start the admission process from February 2021. 

The academic year for CBSE school is set to finish in March 2021. B Purushothaman, Senior principal of Everwin group of schools said “If we know when the academic year ends, we can make admission plans for next academic year.” He also said that he expected a dip of 10 to 20% in admissions.
