Bow Valley College Calgary Alberta has announced a pathway programme in collaboration with Chitkara University India. According to the programme, candidates from the university from any stream of the healthcare programmes will be able to transfer to the Health and Human Services Management (HHSM), a one-year Post-Diploma Certificate at Bow Valley College through Chitkara University
Eligible candidates will be offered a letter of acceptance from Bow Valley College, from which they can apply for their study permit and go through four weeks of orientation programming at Chitkara University before they shift to Canada.
The first cohort under the arrangement is expected to start in January 202, based on travel restrictions in Canada. The HHSM programme will combine business study and managing the Canadian Health System to prepare students for management positions in the Canadian healthcare sector.
Graduates from Bow Valley College can apply for a postgraduate work permit in Canada or pursue other diploma programmes in the college or a degree with a public university pathway partner.
From the point of view of the college, the partnership will be a significant step in providing international students with a seamless pathway. The pathway will also open doors for Indian students who wish to hone their skill sets and acquire the knowhow require to work in the Canadian health sector.
There is a significant gap in the demand and supply of foreign-education healthcare workers in Canada. This step could solve that, by providing Canadian-education professionals to fill in different positions in the healthcare sector, be it in Alberta or elsewhere in Canada.
