Bharathiar University is set to soon incubate various startups from across the state through its newly established incubators.
On Saturday, The Bharathiar School of Management and Entrepreneur Development (BSMED) conducted the inauguration of an incubation centre set up under the Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA).
A release stated that the centre has an objective to support and advance new young startups from all districts and help lower the failure rate of these young organizations. Bharathiar University is going to play a key role in doing the same.
Initially, five startups in IT-enabled services, online education, aerospace, augmented reality and virtual reality will be incubated. Four of them are from Coimbatore and one from Chennai.
BSMED director Rupa Gunaseelan said that RUSA has designated INR 15 crore for entrepreneurship and career hub. Out of this, INR 2.5 crore will be used for the funding of these young start ups.
The fund will greatly help in aiding the incubation of these startups for two years. She also stated that they have already applied for setting up an Atal Incubation and Innovation Centre as well.
The funds from that will further be used to continue incubating startups. The startups being funded will be permitted to utilize the resources present in BU laboratories.
