The JEE Main ended on 6 September. At TCS Gitabitan in Sector V, the biggest examination centre for JEE Main in Kolkata, only 47.3 percent of the total candidates had taken the examination over a course of six days.

The numbers have been just as low, proportionately, at the other centres in West Bengal. It is suspected that lack of transportation and fear of COVID-19 lead to the low numbers. The overall percentage of candidates who took the examination across the state is 47.2.

The JEE Main is conducted by the National Testing Agency. The responsibility of organizing the tests is shouldered by TCS iON, a wing of Tata Consultancy Services. The examination centres varied from 12 to 15 in the state. In Kolkata, there were two centres: TCS Gitabitan and Belghoria.

On 6 September, out of the 1,684 candidates who had registered for the examination, only 632 turned up at Gitabitan in the first half. In the second half, only 577 candidates took the examination. This was the lowest number after a short-lived revival of numbers on Day 2.
