New Delhi: Bangalore University's Department of Kannada Studies has shared a release that the second semester's Kannada courses will follow a syllabus that complies with the NEP 2020.
The action was taken after numerous students and professors urged Bangalore University to at least release the syllabus since students with majors in Kannada are having difficulties as there are no appropriate textbooks or defined syllabi.
Students will now be required to study the NEP syllabus in their second semester in accordance with the NEP 2020. The curriculum and textbooks for the Kannada courses of Bangalore University have been submitted by the department, however, they are still not in their complete form.
The Kannada BA, B.Sc, and BBA curricula were authorised on Thursday, and a sample textbook was prepared. The syllabus and textbook for the B.Com and BCA are still pending and may take some time.
Dr Lakshminarayan A V, general secretary for Bangalore University College Kannada Teachers’ Association (BUCKTA) said, “The syllabus for all three has come on July 7. For B.Com, it might take three to four days. However, the BCA syllabus will take at least a week”.
It is still unclear how and when the textbooks will be printed and distributed to the students as the university has merely released the syllabus. It should be highlighted that the university started its second-semester sessions last month, with students showing up to class without any syllabus or textbook.
