New Delhi: Ashoka University has announced the Chancellor’s Merit Scholarship for Young India Fellows (YIF) for the academic session 2023-24. The scholarship will cover all the tuition costs and living expenses of students.
As per Ashoka University, the first group of students to benefit from this scholarship will be those enrolled in the class of 2023–24. The early application period for the class of 2023–24 students for the scholarship will commence from October 31, 2022 to December 19, 2022.
Informing about the Ashoka University scholarship, the officials stated that about 100 intelligent, inquisitive, and exceptional individuals from India and abroad will be selected for the scholarship. They will be hand-selected following an exhaustive selection procedure.
Shortlisted candidates will be developed over the course of a year of residential multidisciplinary education and multidimensional learning. After this, they will be a part of a worldwide community of future leaders and change-makers for the twenty-first century.
Referring to the scholarship program, Professor Rudrangshu Mukherjee, Chancellor and Professor of History at Ashoka University said, “It is with the YIF that Ashoka University began its pursuit of excellence in the world of education and learning”.
“In keeping with this pursuit, the YIF is instituting the Chancellor’s Merit Scholarships which will recognize outstanding individuals who will become Young India Fellows every year. It is the hope that these scholarships will make Fellows aspire to do better than their best” he added.
The Chancellor’s Merit Scholarship for Young India Fellows (YIF) is awarded to eligible students who have continuously excelled in their academic, extracurricular, and/or professional interests and have shown leadership.
As of July 2023, applicants needed to have received a recognised undergraduate degree or the equivalent in any discipline to be eligible for the Young India Fellowship 2023–24 intake. Selection of students will be based on merit followed by performance in the interview round.
