Ashoka University has announced that the varsity will now accept the applications for the fully-funded Ph.D. programmes in Sociology and Anthropology and Chemical Sciences. 

Ashoka University has already started the online application process for Ph.D. programmes. The last date to apply for Sociology & Anthropology is February 28, 2021, while for the Chemical Sciences, the last date to apply is on December 4, 2020.

Ashoka University Ph.D. Programmes: Eligibility Criteria 

Candidates are required to meet the below-mentioned eligibility requirements to apply for the Ph.D. programmes.

Ashoka University Ph.D. Programmes: Who is not Eligible? 

Candidates who have already passed a national eligibility test such as (GATE / INSPIRE/ CSIR-UGC-NET) are exempted from taking up the written test conducted by AU. 

Ashoka University: Perks of the Ph.D. Programmes 

  • Candidates who are admitted to the Ph.D. programmes will receive a monthly stipend of INR 35,000 for six years including their fieldwork semesters 
  •  They'll be eligible for an annual contingency grant of INR 20,000 for research support and medical insurance coverage of up to 1 LPA
  • Ashoka University may also extend additional financial assistance to the Ph.D. students to attend the conferences
  • Shortlisted candidates for the Ph.D. programmes will get generous and assured funding for nearly 5 years that is equal to the National Scholarships
  • Also, they'll be given on-campus accommodation, interdisciplinary research opportunities and international conferences travel support. 

In communication with the Head of the Department, Sociology/Anthropology at Ashoka University, Professor Swargajyoti Gohain said that it's an honor to start the fully-funded Sociology & Anthropology Ph.D. programmes at the varsity. 

With the introduction of these Ph.D. programmes, the candidates are highly encouraged to apply and contribute to research at Ashoka University, he added.

Candidates who wish to apply for the Ph.D. programmes can visit the official website of AU @apply.Ashoka.edu.in and apply before the last dates. They'll have to appear for the Written Examination and Interview Process for the final selection.
