New Delhi: AIIMS Jodhpur announced its partnership with Microsoft India to establish a “Mixed Reality Centre of Excellence” for transforming healthcare education and services in the country. The institute made this announcement on Friday, May 13, 2022.

As per the official statement of AIIMS Jodhpur, the two organisations have signed the MoU and the soon to be established Mixed Reality Centre will provide medical care, develop stronger remote healthcare capabilities and facilitate more learning opportunities for both the staff and students of AIIMS Jodhpur. 

According to the collaboration, AIIMS Jodhpur will set up a Mixed Reality Healthcare Lab to offer enhanced learning chances for medical students using “Mixed Reality”, a technology combining the virtual and real world. The initiative’s primary goal is to nurture and include more digital innovation and collaboration in healthcare services, medical education and research. 

“The joint initiative is an extension of the government's ongoing engagement to transform last-mile delivery of world-class healthcare services in India using innovative and advanced technology platforms”, the statement stated. 

The statement further explained that AIIMS Jodhpur is also to develop mixed reality enabled remote healthcare services at Sirohi District close to Jodhpur, to strengthen the healthcare services delivery to severely underserved locations.

Established in 2012, AIIMS Jodhpur is a public university, dedicated to medical research. It is one of the 6 AIIMS established by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojna (PMSSY). Approved by MCI, AIIMS Jodhpur ranked in the 4th position among all the AIIMS in India. On the NIRF Rankings 2021, the institute occupied 28th position, under the Medical category. 

The institute is known to offer multiple UG, PG, Doctoral, and Super Speciality courses in the streams of Medicine, Nursing, Dentistry, Biotechnology and Paramedical. It includes more than 40 departments and 40 courses. MBBS is the flagship programme of the institute. 

Students seeking admission to the MBBS course in the institute must produce a valid NEET UG Entrance Exam score. For the other programmes, they can apply via INI CET and entrance exams conducted by the institute itself. 

The institute has also signed MoUs with IIT Jodhpur to offer a dual degree in Medical Technologies and NLU Jodhpur. Moreover, it has also signed an MoU with the Indian Institute of Toxicology Research (IITR), Lucknow, to develop knowledge in the field of Toxicology research.
