While the pandemic continues to cause disruption, Ahmedabad University has announced a novel means of support for its students on 13 July. It said that the graduating batch of 2020 could stay back and develop new skills.
Ahmedabad University has prepared certificate and postgraduate diploma courses and minors for its graduates so that they can remain at the university till they find opportunities outside.
Students who are due to graduate this year can either postpone their graduation and take more courses with the university or graduate this year and complete a 30-credit diploma or 15-credit certificate programme. Students from other universities can also take these courses.
The new offer allows BBA students or B.Com students to stay for an extra year and obtain an Honours degree. Any university student can postpone graduation and continue to take courses for additional semesters as a continuation of their current degree.
For instance, if they have completed a three-year undergraduate programme, an additional two-semester Diploma will give them a fourth year at the university, which will enable them to apply to a wide range of graduate programmes abroad in the upcoming year.
Such students may take courses from across the university. If a student completes 18 credits in a defined Minor, they will receive a Minor in that field. Furthermore, students of the Amrut Mody School of Management (AMSOM) may obtain an additional specialization.
Additionally, students from Ahmedabad University as well as students from outside the university can apply for a two-semester 30-credit Postgraduate Diploma or a one or two-semester 15-credit Certificate in Financial Analysis, Business Analytics, Critical Thinking and the Liberal Arts.
The certificate course is also available in Digital Marketing.
