The Vice-Chancellor of the SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) inaugurated two new SRMIST campuses on August 24, 2020. On the occasion of his birthday, Dr. T. R. Paarivendhar, MP and Founder Chancellor of the Institute, inaugurated a new campus for the College of Agricultural Sciences and the Paarivendhar Telemedicine Centre. Practically, the inauguration ceremony was held.

The new campus of the College of Agricultural Sciences will operate from Vendhar Nagar, Baburayanpettai, Chengalpattu district, and the Paarivendhar Telemedicine Center will operate from the SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Center (SRM MCHRC) in Kattankulathur.

In the event, SRMIST 's Pro-Chancellor (Academics) Dr. P. Sathyanarayanan, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Sandeep Sancheti, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (S&H) Dr. R Balasubramanian, Pro-Vice-Chancellor Dr. C. Muthamizhselvan, Registrar Dr. N Sethuraman, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Medical) of SRM MCHRC Lt . Col. Dr. A. Ravi Kumar were present.

Dr. T. R. Paarivendhar said, "The agricultural school started a few years ago in SRMIST in a small way, and now they have a place of their own with all the facilities."

"SRM has always played a key role in helping the neighborhood in which it operates. So I hope that Vendhar Nagar will also grow as our agricultural college grows, "he added.

He urged students to come forward to make use of the college facilities.

At the opening of the Telemedicine Center, Dr. T. R. Paarivendhar said, "SMR MCHRC has always provided nominal treatment and is also the center for the clinical trial of COVAXIN in Tamil Nadu. Now, with the opening of this Telemedicine Center, it will try to provide solutions to all of our medical problems from the comfort of our homes.

Pro-Chancellor (Academics) Dr. P. Sathyanarayanan said, "It's an auspicious day for us to start anything new on our Chancellor 's birthday. Our Founder-Chancellor has always wanted the farmer to become the Chief Minister of our State, and now his wish has come true as our present CM comes from an agricultural family. SRM MCHRC is known for its COVAXIN clinical trial and now we hope that our newly opened Telemedicine Center will also become one of the most sought after.

He also urged that SRMIST be recognized globally as an institute of excellence and world-class universities by faculty and students here.

Construction work at the College of Agricultural Sciences was occasionally provided with clothing materials. Around 1200 villagers were also provided to the Health Camp and Siddha Preventive Drugs to Fight COVID 19.

The Paarivendhar Telemedicine Center will operate on all days, except Sundays and public holidays, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Regular tele-consultation will be provided by senior physicians (professors) in all specialties. This telemedicine center will operate in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Indian Medical Council (MCI). The initial consultation fee would be Rs. 400 and Rs.250 for review.
