What does this master?s programme entail?
The programme covers two themes:
Why study Research in Physics, Quantum Matter and Optics at Leiden University?
- The programme covers major current research themes, such as advanced condensed matter physics, superconductivity, molecular electronics, quantum optics and quantum information, and strong photon-matter interaction. Experimental methods taught in the programme include break junction spectroscopy, scanning tunneling spectroscopy, low-energy electron microscopy, and magnetic resonance force microscopy. Various of these techniques have been developed or significantly improved in Leiden.
- The programme provides you with a thorough hands-on research training in the field of ?Quantum Matter and Optics?, acquired during two experimental projects, performed in a master-apprentice setting. Here, you will be part of one of our excellent research groups, allowing you to push the boundaries of knowledge yourself.
- In this programme you have ample opportunities to design your own study path; 45 EC of the programme consists of electives.
