How can organisations combine efficiency with fast delivery, reliability, quality and flexibility? This requires a perfect design, organisation, control and planning of the whole supply chain. The Supply Chain Management programme is offered at the University of Groningen.
A supply chain can be seen as a network of organisations working together to carry out customer orders. It is a flow of materials, information and services. The programme in Groningen is unique in that it tackles the full range of the supply chain within all types of organisations (production, distribution and services).
You will focus on the design and coordination of supply chains, and the planning and control of supply chain operations. All aligned with the latest insights and trends, using both qualitative and quantitative methods. The programme has professionals from industry involved and your teachers have a close relationship to SCM topics in both science and practice.
Graduates are able to define, diagnose and analyse supply chain decision problems, and propose and evaluate effective solutions. With a mixture of rigorous academic methods and practical applicability, graduates have learned to develop supply chain theories, methods and best practices.
Through the selection of elective courses you can focus on supply chains in specific contexts, for example in healthcare logistics or process industry.
Job prospects
After graduation, you are ready for a career as a supply chain manager. You may find a job as a logistics, purchase or supply chain manager or analyst in a production, distribution or service environment. You may also become a consultant in the supply chain management or operations management practice. Alternatively, you might opt for an academic career as a researcher.
The MSc programme provides you with the skills and tools related to the field of supply chain management, as well with as general management and professional skills like how to communicate in business, how to write management reports, how to give presentations, to work in teams and how to do a consulting project.
Furthermore, because all our programmes are EQUIS and AACSB accredited, a standard which only one percent of universities reach worldwide, your degree will be highly valued on the labour market.
