New technologies and issues arising from societal trends are translated into innovations for everyday life. Students work, for example, on applications that can personalize cars, or on intelligent clothing that stimulates people to live a more active lifestyle.

The?Industrial Design?programme offered by??is based on self-directed and competency-centered learning. You work as a junior employee in a design team on a design project together with fellow students. You are coached by several experts and work closely with?the department?s?researchers.?

The?program?s?international staff comprises teachers and supervisors that are?also?practitioners from the field. They have their own design firm or work for a company. No wonder there?s a close collaboration with companies and institutions, and a considerable focus on project-based learning.

Careers

After completing your Industrial Design bachelor?s degree program,?you can move on to a connecting master?s degree program at a university in the Netherlands or abroad. At TU/e you are entitled to proceed directly into the Industrial Design master's degree program.??

Since our students have already collaborated a lot with companies and institutions, the graduate of the Industrial Design master is well suited to what the market demands. The?industrial?design ?engineer? is an integrator,?able to integrate various disciplines and come up with solutions.?

Graduates tend to begin their own design firm, sometimes together, get started at the design department of a major company or design firm, or go on to do a PhD.
