• During the Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, students will study in detail the processes that take place in the human body—both in sickness and in health.
  • Students will study molecules, cells, and organs, and learn how they are interconnected. If students want to get to the bottom of what a disease is and to investigate how to treat and cure them, this program is for them. As a biomedical scientist, students will usually not be working directly with patients—but behind the scenes, they will be making all the difference.
  • As a Biomedical Sciences student, they will approach human biology from different levels: from the molecular level to that of entire populations. Students learn not only about anatomy, biochemistry, and physiology but also about the immune system and how everything interacts. Students gain a solid theoretical basis as well as taking part in practicals from the very start of the program. Students work in the lab, do experiments and learn how to handle micro-organisms safely.
