Science for Energy and Sustainability (SES) is an interdisciplinary track within the UvA Master's programmes Chemistry and Physics and Astronomy. Each discipline contributes courses that can be selected allowing a programme geared towards only physics, a mixture of physics and chemistry or supplemented with courses dealing with societal aspects of sustainability. It's a joint degree programme of the University of Amsterdam and VU Amsterdam.
It is if students:
- are interested in experimental physics with a focus on renewable energy and sustainability;
- want to become (more) aware of the scientific, technological and societal challenges for the future;
- want to learn how to advance renewable energy resources, promote sustainable development, and use resources more efficiently;
- want to study the development of technological solutions to global energy and sustainability problems, as well as the societal context of global developments in this field;
- want to pursue a career that focuses on developing sustainable solutions to the current pressing global situation with regard to energy, climate and sustainability.
