- Jewish studies at the University of Freiburg concentrates on two areas: the Biblical and Talmudic literature, which has a major impact on Judaism to the present day, and contemporary Jewish literature, as the modern state of Israel has become a new center of Jewish life. These two poles are excellent starting points for reaching an understanding of all topics of Jewish studies. In addition to the study of sources, the program emphasizes topics from cultural and religious history.
