    MGU CAT 2022 Exam Pattern, Marking Scheme and Syllabus

    MGU CAT 2022 Exam Pattern will be set by Mahatma Gandhi University for admission to postgraduate programs in the Statutory Teaching Departments and Inter School Centers. MGU CAT 2022 will be held in the Second week of July 2022

    • The exam will consist of 80 objective type questions of equal weightage.
    • Negative marking scheme will not be applicable. Check Marking Scheme
    • Duration of the exam will be 2 hours.
    • MA Malayalam, MA English, LLM and Master of Tourism Managemen courses will consist of objective and descriptive type questions.

    Mahatma Gandhi University claims the process to be the simplest and most transparent for allotment of vacant seats which offers the candidate an opportunity to exercise the options and put forth their choice conveniently in the order of preference.

    MGU CAT 2022 Exam Pattern in Detail

    Mahatma Gandhi University Common Admission Test duration will be of 90 minutes for all the academic disciplines. The test paper will be of objective type except for the following courses:

    • MA Malayalam
    • MA English
    • LLM
    • Master of Tourism Management

    For the above-mentioned programs, the questions asked will be objective as well as descriptive.

    M.A. Gandhian Studies M.A. Development StudiesThe test paper will contain questions from Gandhian Studies/Developmental Practices.

    M.Sc. Physics with Specialization from Astrophysics, Theoretical Physics, Material Science, Applied ElectronicsTest paper will consist of questions from the B.Sc. Physics (Main) and Mathematics (Subsidiary) syllabus of MGU.
    M.A. History M.A. AnthropologyThe test paper will have questions that will test a candidate’s knowledge in their own discipline as well as their interdisciplinary aptitude.
    Master of Tourism Management with specialization in Aviation Management, Tour Operations and Health TourismThe test will constitute of objective type questions for 80 marks and the corresponding sections are listed below:
    English language (30 marks)
    General Knowledge and Current Affairs (30 marks)
    Travel Geography (20 marks)
    Apart from this, the test will also have a short descriptive type question of 20 marks

    MGU CAT 2022 Marking Scheme

    MGU CAT 2022 question paper will be of 80 marks. Each question carries 1 one mark and 4 options. There will be no negative score for incorrect answers. The marks calculated for MGU CAT 2022 will depend on the following:

    1. The marks scored by the candidate in the entrance test for the respective subject will be converted to 1000.
    2. The bonus marks or the weightage marks that facilitate to some categories.

    Bonus/Weightage marks in MGU CAT 2022:

    Indexing of marks will depend on the bonus marks awarded to the students as per the below guidelines:

    1. NCC candidates will be rewarded with a bonus of 5 marks provided candidate possess a genuine NCC certificate with seal and signature by the Director and issued by the Directorate with minimum of 75% attendance. Moreover, A certificate holder will be awarded with 3 points whereas B and C certificate holders will get 5 points.
    2. NSS candidates will be awarded with a bonus of 5 marks provided candidate has a NSS certificate which should be legally signed by the Vice-Chancellor or Pro Vice-Chancellor and issued to candidates who have successfully completed 240 hours’ work in a two years’ span.
    3. Ex-servicemen, widows and children of Jawans will be awarded with 15 marks.
    4. Candidates who have applied for M.Ed. courses and are completed with their corresponding B.Ed. degree will also be facilitated with bonus points.15 marks as bonus points will be awarded to candidates with a first-class PG degree whereas 10 marks will be rewarded to candidates with a second-class Post Graduate degree and 5 marks will be awarded to candidates with the third-class PG degree respectively.
    5. Deduction of 5 marks will be done from the overall indexed marks of applicants for each additional appearance taken for completing the qualifying test.

    MGU CAT 2022 Syllabus

    Candidates can get graduation books as per the academic programs. Candidates can choose up to four academic courses in which they wish to pursue post-graduation. According to those chosen courses, they must study all the corresponding graduation books the university recommends to pass the entrance test.

    School of International Relations and PoliticsEntrance Test will comprise of questions on current affairs.
    School of Gandhian Thought and Developmental StudiesEntrance exam will consist of questions relating to the subject.
    School of Social SciencesMGU CAT 2022 Entrance Test will consist of questions that will assess the interdisciplinary aptitude as well as the knowledge in one’s field of discipline to qualify the examination.
    School of Behavioral SciencesEntrance exam will have of questions in an interdisciplinary manner based on the syllabus of the qualifying test.
    School of Computer SciencesEntrance Test will consist of two parts: Part 1: Questions from Computer Science field Part 2: Questions that will access logical reasoning as well as numeral ability.
    School of Tourism and Travel ManagementThe corresponding entrance Test will carry objective type questions for 80 marks, that is, English Language (30 marks), General Knowledge and Current affairs (30 marks), and Travel Geography (20 marks) and a general short essay question carrying 20 marks.
    School of Indian Legal ThoughtEntrance exam will consist of questions which concerns some branches of law which includes Constitutional Law, Administrative Law, Jurisprudence, Fundamentals of Civil & Criminal Law, General Principles of Interpretation and Current Legal Developments.
    School of Pedagogical SciencesEntrance Test will comprise of objective type questions for 50 marks based on the syllabus of general discipline of B Ed programme of MGU.

    Important Instructions

    All the important instructions and guidelines for MGU CAT are bulleted below:

    • Applicant must be present at the examination center 30 minutes prior to the commencement of the entrance test.
    • Under any circumstances, applicant’s entry will be prohibited in the reporting center without MGU CAT 2022 admit card.
    • Electronic gadgets like mobile phones, calculators or suchlike are restricted inside the examination center.
    • Applicants are not allowed to open the seal of exam booklet unless instructed to do the same.
    • Candidates are given an extra time of 10 minutes to read the distributed exam booklet thoroughly to avoid unwanted situations.
    • Personal belongings like baggage must be kept outside the center. Also, the center will not be responsible for mishappening of any sort with the belongings.
    • Answers should be marked correctly in the OMR sheet as per applicant’s ability and knowledge by darkening the appropriate options.
    • Applicant will not be allowed to leave the center before the timings of the examination as it can lead to the cancellation of the examination.
    • Candidature will be cancelled for applicant who will be found guilty for using unfair means to mark the answers.
