Master in Hospital Administration Admission Process

The session for Masters in Hospital Administration begins in September every year. However, the application process for this course commences in April and concludes in mid of August. The admission to this course is mostly granted on the marks obtained in graduation.

The cut-off requirement is set by the institutes. If we talk about general criteria, it is a minimum of 50% to secure a seat in MHA Colleges. Some of the colleges do conduct their own entrance exams at the institute level.

Post qualifying the entrance exams, the qualifying students are accepted for the course offered by the colleges offering MHA course.

Masters in Hospital Administration: How to Apply? 

Step 1: Apply for the course

The students who want to take admission to do this course must apply for the course within the deadlines set by the institutes. The students must be well aware of the eligibility criteria and documents required by the institute. Fill the form as per the guidelines and submit all the documents required. 

Step 2: Shortlisting Process

The colleges take students ideal for the course as per the scores achieved in the qualifying exams and the scores are considered at the time of making the final selections.

Step 3: Final Admission Round

Some institutes might take the GD-PI round to judge the students’ abilities and skills for a particular course. The students might be asked to attend Personal Interview and Counselling round on the basis of which, the final selections will be made.

Master in Hospital Administration Eligibility

Every institute sets its own eligibility criteria for admission to Masters in Hospital Administration Course. Some of the general criteria to be met is: 

• Bachelor’s degree in any discipline (including Science, Commerce, Arts, Law, Agriculture, MBBS, etc) from a recognized university.
• The minimum percentage required to apply for this course is 50% marks in aggregate.
• Students with Indian citizenship can apply under the general category, while NRI/Foreign students have to apply under the Foreign or NRI category.
• Most of the institutes require a mandatory internship for the course. 

Note: Candidates with a four years graduate degree in Paramedical Sciences, medicine, and other four years’ program, such as Veterinary Sciences, Pharmacy, Agriculture, Law, and Engineering can also apply. 

The candidates in the final year are also eligible to apply but must produce their exam scores at the time of counseling (with the minimum marks needed).

Master in Hospital Administration Entrance Exams

All the major universities offering MHA courses conduct their own entrance exam for offering admission to the students interested in this program. The candidates can apply to Masters in Hospital Administration course post completing their graduation.

Due to COVID19 Pandemic, major entrance exams have been postponed. 

How to prepare for Masters in Hospital Administration Entrance Exams?

Most of the universities select the eligible candidates based on the Merit and only a few universities take admissions for the seats offered through entrance exams in accordance with their admission procedure.

The entrance exam of MHA course includes questions related to social sensitivity, logical reasoning, analytical ability, and knowledge on contemporary issues.

Mainly, there are three topics covered in all the entrance exams, which are:

• Logical reasoning
• Analytical ability
• Questions related to Knowledge-based contemporary issues

The syllabus of the entrance exam might vary but most of the question paper is designed to test the knowledge and skills of the candidate in the hospital environment and how they can help in serving the society.

What points must be kept in mind while starting preparing for the Entrance Exams?

• The students planning to appear for the test can refer to the previous year tests so that can get an insight of the course content and the style of questions that are asked in the exam.
• The syllabus of all the entrance exams is almost the same, the papers are designed to judge the candidates’ Healthcare administrator's skills.
• The students must revise the entire content of the entrance exam in a detailed way so that they about their weaknesses and stronger points as well. Also, their reasoning skills must be up to the mark to score high in the test.
• The candidates must focus on their analytical, critical, and problem-solving skills that hold a significant weightage in the entrance test.

How to Get Admission to Master in Hospital Administration College?

Only the students who have completed their graduation with minimum percentage required are eligible to apply for the course. The candidates need to have at least 50% marks in their graduation to apply for admission to a college offering Masters in Hospital Administration.

• The students need to be prepared mentally and physically as apart from the entrance test, the candidates need to appear for other rounds as well.
