LLD or Doctor of Laws is a 3 years of course in India. It is one of the highest legal degrees that one can achieve, as it is the higher version of a regular Ph.D. in law.

In order to be fully eligible for this course one needs to hold a Ph.D. in a related discipline as well as to have a good work experience. Throughout the three years, students are not only required to study theoretical legal aspects but also need to conduct various legal research.

Constitutional Law, Jurisprudence, Family Law, Business Law ,Union State Legislative Relations Fundamental Rights and Duties,, Concepts of Possession and Ownership, etc are some of the topics covered broadly in this course.

Being one of the top legal research courses, the syllabus of LLD is vast and has numerous topics to conduct research on, but here are some of the most important topics covered in this course. The course curriculum can vary from one university to another.

Topics Objectives
Research Methodology LLD is full of researching and analysing and therefore various types of  research methods are introduced in here, with each having specific uses.
Constitutional Law Roles and powers of different countries are taught under the subject constitutional law.
Jurisprudence Nature and philosophy of law is the main concern of this topic. Students have to go through this subject in order to have a better understanding of the course.
Fundamental Rights and Duties The operation of various fundamental rights and duties in different countries are included here.
Union State Legislative Relations To know the relations and the ways through which union state legislative functions and remain connected is the core idea of the subject. 
Preamble and Writ Jurisdiction Preamble is an  introduction to any constitution, which briefs rules, regulations and principles broadly followed by the constitution. Writ jurisdiction is taught to give ideas on various ways in which the court of law can use those to enforce an individual's rights.
Environmental Law and Cyber Law With growing environment and cyber crime issues in a society, various laws enforced on these areas are taught to LLD aspirants.
Law of Contracts: General Principles Principles of making contracts, purposes, considerations, acceptance and more are taught under laws of contract.
Law of Crimes: General principles General principles related to crime like intention, purpose, methods, punishment etc are commonly focused here.
IPR and Human Rights Intellectual Property Rights like trademark, copyright, patents and trade secrets are taught broadly. LLD aspirants are also supposed to know the universal human rights in order to make sure no violations in such rights take place.
Family Law and Business Law Laws operating in family relations, property divisions, etc are known as family laws and business laws are the one dealing with time to time registrations and licencing of the business. These students are supposed to learn such areas closely.
Amendment to the Constitution of India Changes done in the past, reasons and conditions on when a constitution amendment is done are some of the topics closely associated with this subject.
Concepts of Possession and Ownership Possessions and ownership can seem similar but are different in meaning. Where possession is referred to have physical custody, ownership is a strong legal word that goes from to another.
