KIIT School of Design Campus Facilities
The campus of KIIT School of Design is situated on a huge area of land and has a very positive, vibrant, and collaborative teaching-learning ambiance. Unwavering support from management and founders further keeps teachers updating the educational policies, curriculum, and teaching pedagogies to the changing academic needs of students. Discussion sessions are held by the department head from time to time, to address the hurdles faced by the students and teachers, and provide timely resolution for the same. Following are some of the key amenities the college has for its students and staff members.
Classrooms: The college firmly believes in the fact that the ambiance and overall design of a class influence the learning, and grasping pattern of individuals to a great extent. Hence it has developed avant-garde, spacious, and technology-enabled lecture halls on its campus. All the classrooms are resourced with comfortable, and well-designed drafting tables and chairs, projectors, and interactive display monitors. The end goal is to assist teachers in delivering course content using the latest pedagogies, PPTs, Pre-recorded Videos, etc., and promote collaboration, and project-based engagements.
Design Workshops: This is not any ordinary lab but the space where students consume knowledge about various processes, tools, equipment, and practices involved in manufacturing, production, and operations. The workshop has everything ranging from lathe machines to mechanical cutters and welding equipment. Design Workshop is also the place where individuals spend most of their time post theoretical lectures, developing their physical modeling projects to scale models of their concepts. A variety of objects are prepared by them through metal, wood, and plastic using cutting, shaping, milling, sawing, boring, slotting, grinding, drilling, and turning.
CAD Laboratory: Computer-Aided Design Lab is primarily used to teach students how to create, modify, analyze, and optimize a design, and design processes such as digital sketching/renderings, 3D modeling, and milling using CAD software packages. This software not only increases the productivity of incumbent designers but also enhances the quality of the designs they prepare, and overall communications through documentation.
Clay Modelling Laboratory: This lab has been established to help designers easily translate their vision into reality. In other words, individuals can pre-visualize concepts, and make informed decisions before taking the products further for manufacturing. Nowadays also, Clay Modeling is commonly and extensively used by OEMs in the automotive and product design industry.
Hostels: To give a home-like ambiance to students away from their homes, separate and fully residential AC accommodations have been built by the college for both boys and girls. Both hostels have facilities such as spacious, clean, and well-ventilated rooms with attached washrooms, chairs, desks, and beds followed by recreation space for students to rejuvenate themselves by playing various indoor games, watching TV, or simply talking to their fellow mates. Then there are 24*7 water and electricity facilities. The warden, and security guards ensure students' security around the clock.
