What I Liked

Qualified Faculty: The faculty members are generally well-qualified, with many holding advanced degrees in their fields. They are knowledgeable and approachable, often willing to assist students outside of regular class hours.
Effective Placement Cell: The college has a dedicated placement cell that works hard to connect students with potential employers. Many students secure jobs through campus placements, especially in IT and core engineering sectors.
Career Workshops: The college often conducts workshops, seminars, and guest lectures focused on career development, helping students to prepare for interviews and understand industry expectations.
Modern Infrastructure: SRM Madurai’s campus is generally well-maintained with modern buildings, well-equipped labs, libraries, and computer centers that provide a conducive learning environment.
Industry-Relevant Curriculum: The curriculum is frequently updated to align with industry standards, ensuring that students learn the skills that are in demand in the job market.

What I didn’t like

Limited Cultural Diversity: Some students may feel that the campus could benefit from more diversity in terms of student backgrounds, which could enhance cultural exchange and broaden perspectives.
Inconsistent Teaching Quality: While many faculty members are excellent, there are occasional reports of inconsistency in teaching quality. Some students feel that certain faculty members could improve their engagement and teaching methods.
Job Opportunities: Although the placement cell is active, some students find that the variety of job opportunities, especially in non-IT sectors, could be expanded. There’s also feedback that more international placement options would be beneficial.

Placement Experience:

Placements at SRM Madurai start in the 7th semester. Top companies like Infosys, TCS, Wipro, and Accenture regularly visit, offering numerous roles, especially in IT. Core companies like L&T and Tata Motors also recruit but offer fewer positions. The highest package usually ranges from INR 10-15 LPA, occasionally reaching over INR 20 LPA, while the average package is around INR 4-6 LPA. About 80-85% of students get placed, with IT and computer science students having higher placement rates. Those not placed often pursue higher studies, entrepreneurship, or prepare for competitive exams. The college’s strong industry connections support employability and diverse career paths.

Remarks:

I chose SRM Madurai College for its modern infrastructure, strong placement services, and industry-aligned curriculum. I applied to other colleges like VIT and Manipal but chose SRM for its balanced academic environment and specific course offerings. I didn't make it to some top-tier colleges due to stiff competition and narrowly missing cutoffs. The SRM admission process involves an online application, entrance exams like SRMJEEE or JEE Main, followed by counseling. SRM Madurai stood out for its good faculty-to-student ratio and well-rounded campus life, making it a solid choice for engineering studies.
