IBAB Bangalore is an autonomous institution established in the year 2001. It was set up by the department of IT, BT, and S&T of the government of Karnataka. It offers M.Sc and PG Diploma courses at the PG level. IBAB Bangalore also offers a PhD programme across various specializations.

Selection to all courses is done on the basis of an entrance examination followed by a personal interview.
For M.Sc, candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Science/Technology/Medicine with minimum 50%
For the PG Diploma program, candidates must have a BE/B.Tech or M.Sc degree with a minimum of 60% marks.
For admission to Ph.D. course, the candidate must have at least 55% marks in MSc or equivalent degree in science/engineering/medicine field.
Candidates with MBBS or BDS or any undergraduate degree with a duration of at least 5 years can also apply for the doctorate programs.

Specialization: The M.Sc course offers dual specialization degrees in Biotechnology & Bioinformatics.

Eligibility criteria:

The candidate who has passed the bachelor’s degree in any branch of Science/Technology/Medicine with an overall mark of 50% is eligible to apply for this program.
The candidate must have passed in any of the eligible subjects such as life sciences (Zoology, botany, genetics, human biology, ecology, human biology, general life sciences, environmental biology), bioinformatics, biotechnology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, statistics, any branch of engineering, pharmaceutical sciences, dentistry, agriculture, medicine horticulture, forestry, and veterinary sciences)
There is no age limit for admission to the MSc program.
The candidate who has been working for a few years or has had an education break can also apply for this.
Any student including Indian nationals or NRI or foreign nationals who have passed the qualifying degree examination out of India must have to submit an equivalent certificate issued by Indian authorities.

Selection Criteria

The selection criteria for the program are based on an online entrance test conducted by IBAB followed by an Interview.
Students are called for the personal interview based on the cutoff marks in the entrance test.
The interview is held at IBAB campus in Bangalore.

IBAB Bangalore Scholarships

The institute offers full/partial scholarships to the meritorious and deserving students of the MSc program.

IBAB provides a monthly stipend of INR 10,000 to the selected candidates of the postgraduate diploma program.

There is no fee for the Ph.D. program. The candidate has to pay only the necessary fees to MAHE or TDU as per the guidelines.

Ques. What is the application fee for the admission procedure at IBAB Bangalore?

Ans. The application fee is INR 600/- for the students of India and for the NRI/foreign students the application fee is INR 1200/-. The application fee is non-refundable.

Ques. What is the format of the M.Sc Entrance Test conducted by IBAB Bangalore?

Ans. The Entrance test is held in online mode and is purely objective. There is no negative marking. The candidate will be tested in subjects such as Mathematics, basic Physics, Biology, Chemistry and English language comprehension.

Ques. Does IBAB Bangalore provide internships opportunities?

Ans. Yes, the institute provides short-term research training programs which are called internships to the interested students of undergraduate and postgraduate students with a duration of 2-6 months. The students have to fulfill the basic eligibility for the internships.
