Ans. Students of the Diploma Course in Engineering are expected to spend half a day per week at the PSG Industrial School, a fully fledged manufacturing field. In addition, a large number of projects, which the students undertake, are in collaboration with various engineering industries in and around Coimbatore, including PSG industrial institute to meet the real world challenges of industry. The college is well equipped with laboratories and separate departmental libraries. The departments which lay a strong foundation for students are nurtured by highly qualified faculty. Ques. What is the duration for Diploma ?
Ans. The polytechnic course diploma is 3 years in duration while the sandwich course is for 4 years. Each semester is 6 months and you are taught both theory and practical subjects. Exam will have a different theory and practical at the end of every semester.
Ques. What is the difference between Engineering and Polytechnic ?
Ans. Diploma Engineering means the diploma is three years while the engineering is four years. The entrance examination which is taken for admission to the diploma course has low competition, whereas the entrance examination to engineering is very competitive. Under the diploma, you get a prior knowledge of your subject while you get a comprehensive knowledge of the same field in engineering. One can work on the Junior Engineer post after earning a diploma and can work on the Engineer post after engineering.
