IHM Ranchi was established in 2019 by the joint effort of Government of India and Government of Jharkhand. The institute is affiliated to the National Council for Hotel Management Catering Technology (NCHMCT) and is located in the backdrop of a picturesque town in Brambe. The campus is spread over an area of 10 acres with a total built-up area of nearly 20,000 square metres. The institute is autonomous and aims to provide local recruits for the tourism industry.

It is the first and only Hotel Management institute in Jharkhand and provides B.Sc, Diploma and other courses in Hotel Management. Admissions in the institute are done through the NCHMCT JEE or direct admissions through merit.

The institute offers 5 courses in Hotel Management. Other than this they also offer a short term skilling program called Hunar Se Rozgar Tak. Under this, they offer 5 short term courses that only have duration of a couple of months. The eligibility for these courses ranges from 5 to 12 qualified for different trades.

IHM Ranchi Admission 2024

Selection criteria:

The admission process at the institute is done through NCHMCT JEE for B.Sc. programme and through direct merit-based admission for the rest of the courses. Age Limit: 25 years (General), 28 years (SC/ST)

In case some seats in any of the courses including the B.Sc. programme are left, the college puts a notice on its website to invite admissions for the vacant seats. The admissions in this round are done on a first come first serve basis. 

How to Apply?

Institute of Hotel Management Ranchi application process is conducted in online mode only. Candidates seeking admission to any of the programmes offered by the institute, need to visit the official website and fill an online application form. 

For B.Sc.

• To take admission in the institute, the candidate must have cleared the NCHMCT JEE exam. 
• Based upon the rank achieved, he can then select the college 
• After a successful counselling process, the candidate will receive an allotment letter
• After that, the candidate has to report at the institute along with all the necessary documents in the time frame allocated in the allotment letter

For Diploma/ Craft Courses

• In this case, the direct admission take place
• The institute releases an advertisement in the newspaper and a notification on the website
• Eligible candidates have to download the application form or take it from the institute and submit it along with the necessary documents through post or physically
• The merit list of the selected candidates will be put up in the official website and then the candidate follow up the process by reporting to the institute

Several scholarships are provided to commendable candidates. They’re conferred based on the financial situation, community, special talent or academic achievement. The following types of scholarships can be availed by the students.

• Students who come from economically weaker section can avail concessions which are dependent on the decision of college administration

IHM Ranchi Facilities

The institute provides the following facilities to its students.

• Hostels: There are separate spaces for the accommodation of girls, boys and faculty. There are 20 rooms for girls and faculty and 133 rooms in boys’ hostel. The rooms are spacious and clean and are equipped with all the necessary amenities. 3 people share a single room although the boys’ hostel has a single room facility which can be availed for a higher fee. 
• Library: The institute manages a state of the art library which the students can visit freely from 9 am to 6 pm. 
• Restaurant: There are 2 well-furnished food and beverages labs (Restaurant) with bar and banquet facility to impart practical experience to the students.
• Kitchen: The 4 kitchens at the institute are fully equipped as can be expected of a hotel management institute. In addition to this, there is also a bakery, a confectionary and a larder.
• Computer labs: There are well-furnished computer and language labs in the institute.
• Auditorium: The institute has an auditorium and a conference hall on its campus where events and other functions can take place.
• Wi-Fi: There is Wi-Fi available throughout the campus to ensure easy connectivity to the internet.
