The Gujarat Forensic Sciences University is the first and only university in the world dedicated to the forensic and allied sciences. The Institute of Forensic Science currently offers postgraduate level academic programs M.Sc/ M.Tech/ PG Diploma, short term e - courses and certificate courses.

Graduates securing 55% in relevant discipline are eligible to apply for PG programs.

Institute of Forensic Science under the Gujarat Forensic Sciences University was established with a sole aim of creating much required expertise in the field of criminal investigation with the application of advanced scientific techniques. It is located in the green and clean city of Gandhinagar which is the capital city of Gujarat state. The University has been accredited with ‘A’ grade by NAAC and recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) as a State University to award degrees in May 2011.

Eligibility Criteria

B.E./ B.Tech. in Computer Engineering/ Technology or Computer Science and Engineering or Information Technology Engineering or Information and Communication technology or equivalent qualification from recognized University with minimum 55 % marks or equivalent from recognized university.
5% marks relaxation will be considered for eligibility of SC/ ST candidates.

Selection Criteria

Admission is given on the merit basis of the following criteria as decided by the Academic Council.
1. 100% of the GATE Score for GATE qualified students.
2. 100% of Score of Entrance Test conducted for Non - GATE qualified students by the Gujarat Forensic Sciences University.
The preference will be given to GATE qualified over Non - GATE qualified students in merit list.
The semester tuition fee for M.Tech is INR 65000 per semester, not including other university fees.

How to apply for GATE?

Registration on the official website of GATE.
Fill the application form with personal, academic, qualification details, you will have to choose the preferred exam centre.
The process of uploading documents like photographs, signature, eligibility certificate and SC/ST certificate (if there) must be done.
Fee payment of INR 1500 or INR 2000 (based on various criteria) must be done.

Eligible candidates can apply to the university on a prescribed application form available from the college sales counter or university website.
The Application form should be filled up with all the required details and should be submitted.
Payment of applicable fees.
The entrance examination for the admission in M.Tech./ M.Sc./ PG Diploma will be conducted by GFSU at Gandhinagar.
The exam will be in Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) format and will not have any negative marks. There will be 50 questions and each question will carry two marks.

Ques. What is the placement record of the Institute of Forensic Science ?

Ans. The University has a full training and placement cell that provides placement support for Internship and job placement for students. Ans. GFSU has established a state of the art Cyber Defence Centre that simulates Cyber Range. GFSU also have laboratories which are equipped with the tools and technologies like Threat Intelligence, Fuzz Testing, E-Discovery, Malware and Ransomware Analysis, IoT security, Darknet, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Cloud, Blockchain, Mobile Forensics, Computer Forensics, CDR Analysis and Multimedia Forensics and many more.

Institute of Forensic Science, Gujarat Forensic Sciences has established three new computer labs with the capacity of 200 computers with the configuration of 32 GB ram and i7 Intel Processor to configure virtual laboratories and to run programs / tools that need huge computation power.

How do I prepare for the entrance exam for Gujarat Forensic Sciences University?

My brother studied M.Phil in Forensic Psychology from Gujarat Forensic Sciences University. He took the online entrance exam for NFSU in 2020 during the first wave of Covid-19. Here are his tips on how to do well in the entrance exam.

Be aware of the admission notification. Keep checking. Go through the eligibility criteria for your course. Make note of the last date of application and complete your application requisites before that.
The syllabus changes each year. So, check it thoroughly. In 2020 the syllabus of Masters was General Psychology, English language, GK, and Research Methodology. In 2021, it is General Psychology, Research Methodology, and Statistics.
Stick to the material available for study. Always begin with the fundamentals.
Since there is no negative marking you can attempt all the questions to increase possibilities of selection.
The interviewers need to see that you are focused and motivated. If you are going for a research-based program like M.Phil, P.hD., etc. then make sure you have ample research experience in hand like the dissertation of your Master's course.

The entrance is competitive and not difficult. You'll find only a few tricky questions in there. Most of the questions are of average difficulty. With strategic preparation, you can easily score well on the entrance test.
