The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) is a philanthropic establishment, founded in 1931 committed to research and training in the field of gemology and the adornments expressions and situated in Carlsbad, California.

The institute is headquartered in Carlsbad, California, and operates out of 13 countries, with 11 campuses, 9 laboratories, and 4 research centers worldwide. Two of its branches are situated in India at Surat and Mumbai.

GIA offers four Diploma Programs and six Certificate Programs for different durations. To be eligible for the same, the candidates must possess a 10+2 qualification and must be over 18 years of age.

Admission is granted on the basis of merit and the submission of application form with the requisite fee and documents.

GIA Surat Diploma Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must be at any rate 18 years old and have a higher school endorsement (H.S.C)/10+2 or comparable to be conceded into GIA courses and projects. All classes are instructed in English. Capability in the English language is required.

Ans. Gemmology is the study of gemstones (Diamonds, Coloured Stones and Pearls). Education in this field is available through specialized institutes like GIA.

Ques. Are GIA courses accredited in US?

Ans. GIA Carlsbad is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC). GIA New York is accredited by the ACCSC as a branch of GIA Carlsbad. ACCSC’s accreditation is institutional in nature and includes GIA on-campus education only. GIA’s Distance Education courses are accredited by the Accrediting Commission of the Distance Education Accrediting Council (DEAC). ACCSC and DEAC are listed by the U.S. Department of Education as nationally recognized accrediting agencies.

Ques. What is the eligibility criterion for enrolling in any GIA course?

Ans. The applicant for GIA courses should have higher H.S.C. or equivalent to 10 + 2. Also, all courses are conducted in the English language only. Hence, proficiency in English language is required. All applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
